Phototherapy device is a medical device used in the treatment of many known skin conditions. It is frequently used in the treatment of jaundice, especially in babies. Phototherapy is a method used to treat the skin with ultraviolet (UV) light. The main purpose of the phototherapy device is to reduce bilirubin levels in the skin. Bilirubin is a substance formed as a result of the destruction of red blood cells, and if it accumulates at high levels it can cause a change in skin color called jaundice. How does a phototherapy device work? The phototherapy device uses special light sources to break down bilirubin on the skin surface. These light sources are usually LEDs or fluorescent lamps that produce blue or green light. These lights expose the skin to a specific wavelength of UV light and break down bilirubin molecules into harmless components. Phototherapy treatment is often used for neonatal jaundice in an infant. Jaundice in babies usually occurs within the first few weeks and usually goes away on its own. However, if bilirubin levels are very high, phototherapy treatment may be required. Babies' eyes should be protected while using the phototherapy device, as exposure to UV light can cause eye damage. Therefore, babies are often protected with special glasses or masks. Phototherapy treatment is generally effective and safe, but like any medical treatment method, it should be administered carefully and under medical supervision. Our company can produce all kinds of madoors system phototherapy devices.

Phototherapy uses lightwaves to treat certain skin conditions. The skin is exposed to an ultraviolet (UV) light for a set amount of time. Phototherapy uses a man-made source of UV light. UV light also comes from the sun. When combined with a medication called psoralen, the procedure is known as psoralen UVA (PUVA). UV light shuts down immune system cells in the skin. It can help in skin conditions that are caused by an overreaction of the immune system. Skin conditions that are treated with phototherapy include:

Psoriasis ;  a skin disorder that causes red, silvery, scaly patches on the skin

Eczema ; an itchy, red skin condition, or dermatitis due to allergies

Mycosis fungoides ; a type of lymphoma confined to the skin

Vitiligo ; a skin disorder where normal skin pigment is lost due to destruction of pigment-producing cells by the immune system

What to Expect from a Phototherapy Session and Treatment?

Preparing for Treatment ;

You will be asked to remove any clothing covering the treated skin. Areas that do not require treatment should be covered and protected as much as possible.

Some security steps include ;

Sunscreen to protect your neck, lips and back of your hands

Special glasses or goggles to protect your eyes from UV rays

Covering the genitals in men

Phototherapy Procedure ;

Sunscreen for nipples and areola in women

Be sure to tell your doctor about any medications you are currently using. Some medications, including over-the-counter medications, may increase the risk of side effects.

Types of phototherapy include:

Broadband UVB; It uses type B UV light. It cannot be used in areas with skin folds.

Narrow band UVB (nbUVB); It uses a narrower UVB wavelength range. It can reach more specific areas, even skin folds.

PUVA ; This UVA light therapy involves a medication called psoralen that is taken before treatment. It makes your skin more sensitive to light. Psoralen can be taken as a pill or applied to the skin.

Lasers ; An excimer laser emits UV light. It can be directed to specific areas of the skin.

Treatment applied to a large area can be done in the treatment unit. You can stand in this unit during treatment. Smaller areas can be treated with smaller units. Laser treatment will use a laser light that focuses on a specific area.
